Temu brake pads anyone?

I currently use swiss stop yellow brake pads on my force axs. They generally work well.

However I'm heavier and seem to wear them out fast....like under 2k....

Ive just ordered some organic pads from Temu. Has anyone tried them? Quick search here and on the web does not bring up anything useful.

Interested to hear thoughts / experiences...

Cheers,

Mike

Wouldn't touch ANYTHING off temu. Have been asked to pat test stuff by colleagues and on most occasions I've binned whatever I've been asked to test. It's cheap for a reason, don't risk your safety with cheap pads. You wouldn't do it with a car or motorbike.

If you want cheaper pads there are reputable brands available on AliExpress. There is a fantastic forum dedicated to Chinese bike parts called Chinertown which can help guide you on what's worth buying.

I have bought ZTTO replacement pads at about £4 each and they work fine. Not got cooling fins, but in use really can't notice the difference Vs stock Shimano. Mine are just resin, but also come in sintered and ceramic.

Personally wouldn't touch Temu - just a bit too bargain basement / a lottery as to what you actually get.

What I hadn't mentioned was email and financial information that temu is reputed to harvest. Eitherway wouldn't touch them.

Thanks for the chinertown comment. I've given that a look.

I principle, I don't really support the business models of Temu / Ali express and the farming comment is well noted!

But I also don't enjoy paying well over the odds for some material stuck to a couple of pieces of metal!

  • Too many stories of fake pads with the whole surface coming off ,stick to the real thing

Mike pretty much what Trevor mentions. What price your safety. What I will say is organic pads aren't the best.

The.swiss stop organic pads are literally the best pads I have ever used in terms of performance in all conditions. They just wear out faster than I would like and cost a premium.....

Agree on the fake pads, which is why you should never get Shimano or SRAM branded pads outside of a mainstream cycling retailer.

But there is a world of cheaper brands out there that have their own name on the product and are out in the wild without stories of the surface falling off. If you follow the forums like Chinertown and there was something dodgy with a product, you'd hear about it.

So I would have no concerns using ZTTO or Bucklos - it really is no different to using something like Clarks - just a generic product that does the job OK. Probably not for a Sunday best bike but perfectly fine for general use.

  • There's trade off with all tge different types ,wear and noise are the 2 main ones .For stopping i always put in whatever the manufacturer recommends as stopping is a major safety thing to consider ,though as above I wouldn't have any issue with clarks .

TBH I dont use organic pads as the wear rate is horrendous.
