Di2 Cable Help

Hi

I have a large sized frame with Ultegra 12 speed Di2. The battery is in the seat post and when I remove the seat post one of the cables always seems to disconnect and is a faff to retrieve.

I'm flying abroad soon and will need to remove the battery for the flight.

Does anyone have any ideas on how to stop the cables disconnecting, perhaps attaching them to the seat post in some way? I don't really want too much hassle when reassembling the bike.

Any tips appreciated.

You don't need to remove or disconnect internal Di2 batteries for flights. I would leave it all connected unless you need to take the seatpost out to fit in a bike box. If you do then pull all the cables out and tape to the outside of the frame with insulating tape.

I have a Scicon Aerocomfort and it makes life super easy - just take the wheels off and bolt to the frame, add the padding and your kit in the bags and go.

    Thanks super_davo.

Not planning a lot of flying with the bike so going to rent a bike box (Trico Iron Case). Because of the large size of the frame (60cm) I've not seen many cases where I wouldn't have to remove the seat post. In fact I'd probably need a bike box or bag designed for an MTB or Tri bike.

When I removed the seat post recently one of the leads disconnected. I'm pretty sure this is because the Di2 cable to the rear mech isn't long enough. I probably should have disconnected it from the rear mech first and threaded some slack into the seat tube. I might just get a longer cable though.

    Thanks

I was going to say, work out what length the cable currently is, and then just buy one X cm longer - they are pretty pricey though for what they are, shop around to find the best deal.

  • Sounds like tgd cable is either snagged somewhere or it's too short

I'd be inclined to say its snagged with one of the clips you use to stop it rattling ,most likly in the chainstay ,try disconnecting it at the rear derailler and try pull it to the rear to free it up ,it could be too short but if it was put together then it was long enough to assemble then it has to be long enough
