Chamois Cream
I don't usually use this stuff but, as me and the Mrs are off on a cycling trip in India, she suggested we get some.
Loads out there . . . any recommendations?

Ist and only time I used it was on a 5 week tour, I think it helped a bit but both of us still got sore bits, possibly due to a fair amount of cycling in the wet.
I used Morgan Blue solid - which is quite greasy- looks very much like emulsifying ointment.

I used cc when I first starting long rides quite some years back, largely because people told me I should. I don't actually really need it, even for 7-8 hours in the saddle so don't use it anymore. Having said that, I used Assos, never had any issues with it.
The major thing is menthol and whether or not a cream contains it. If it does (Assos stuff certainly used to) watch out for your bits as it will give them a certain cold/mild anesthesia type feeling when first applied!

I've tried a lot of the brands and decided that in the end Assos was the best simply due to the consistency and absorption. I'm sure they've cut out the menthol as the colour has changed (to white) and there is no cooling effect. YMMV.
The above may be fact, or fiction, I may be serious, I may be jesting.
I am not sure. You have no chance.Veronese68 wrote:PB is the most sensible person on here.1 -
Muc Off CC works for me!

I just use sudocream as there's no end of the stuff kicking about our house.
Mrs Wakemalcolm used to swear by a Weleda nappy cream product but we don't have so much of that in the house these days.

Tried several, and settled on Muc off CC.
Seems quite pricey now, back in the day I used to be able to find it for £7 a pot, but you'll be unsurprised to know I have a stock of 4 so will be ok for a few years 🙂
They make, or did, a women's version as well, which my partner has used with no complaints.

I find these days I can get a bit chaffed even I use chamois cream. What I find is the best use of it, is to use it post ride and my skins fine the next day.

After the 5 week ride the pads on my shorts were full of the oil from the cream, took quite a few machine washes for it to disappear! (We did wash them during the tour, honest!)

£20 in Halfords at the moment. This shows as the online price, but the stores will match that price even though the shelf price shows something like £29. Have just stocked up!

Thanks for that - we actually went across Rajastan in Feb/March 2020. Although we had finished the cycling part of our trip across Rajastan, the emergence of Covid meant the next part of the trip to the Andaman and Nicobar islands had to be canned - we ended up in Goa and are starting from there this time going inland to Hampi

Aquaeous cream. Cheap as chips. If you wanna be funky, add a few drops of tea tree oil per 'fingerful'.
Far far cheaper than the cycling branded stuff, yet exactly the same.
