Saddle rails coating - performance or cosmetic?

Hi


the coating of the saddle rails is peeling off. Would it impact the performance or is just a cosmetic issue?

    it may be due to corrosion, especially if it's been exposed to salt from winter roads

    if it seems to get worse i'd be inclined to remove it, clean off the affected area and check that it looks ok underneath

    my bike - faster than god's and twice as shiny
