PTP 2024 - Giro d'Italia - Saturday 4th - Sunday 26th May
Welcome to the 2024 Giro d'Italia!
3,408km and 44,650m spread over 3 weeks. From Torino and Piedmont, down to Napoli, up to the Alps, before a quick flight for a final Sunday in Rome.
The climbing begins straight out the door on Stages 1 and 2 before the sprinters and rouleurs will get their chance. Stage 7 is a 40.6km ITT with a sting in the tail, then comes the Apennine test to Prati di Tivo on Stage 8, before a sprint and a rest in Napoli.
The second week is a long transfer from South to North, ending with a flat 31km ITT on Stage 14 and then a monster stage to Livigno on Stage 15 which includes the easy (still not easy) side of the Mortirolo, Foscagno, and then a short kick to the summit finish at Passo di Eira -- 220km and 5,700m!
Week 3 is the usual alpine affair. The Cima Coppi comes early on Stage 16 (Stelvio from Bormio) before a summit finish in Val Gardena. Stage 17 packs 4,200m into 160km with another summit finish. After a quick trip to Padova the riders head back to the hills and then face a final mountain stage with the double ascent of Monte Grappa and a full gas descent to the final GC finish line. Then to Rome for a circuit race.
