Tuscany with a bicycle

During the previous fall, my friends and I embarked on a week-long vacation in Tuscany, Italy. Drawing from our journey, I’ve compiled an article offering tips, suggestions, and itineraries for others to explore.

It was an incredible adventure, and I strongly endorse this route, especially Elba.

Best visited in spring or autumn. If you need any advice or help, drop me a line!

Cheers,

Robert

Will deffo look at this - LOVE cycling in Tuscany, probably my favourite place so far to ride.

Our friends used to have a house about 10km north east of Lucca, and we landed the house sitting gig for several years, until they sold up and moved back to the uk :-(

However they are in the process of buying another house 10km south west of Lucca, so the opportunity will hopefully arise again, though not as frequently as before, as they will be living over there more 'full time'

We used to drive down in April normally, was a long old slog in the car, some 15 hours or so non stop.

Had a very brief scan, but will save it and have a proper look later - are you planning to put in where you stayed, as presumably you sought out bike friendly places, and were staying in airbnb type places, or small hotels?

Doesn't look like you have enough kit for camping?

    Felt F70 05 (Turbo)
Marin Palisades Trail 91 and 06
    Scott CR1 SL 12
    Cannondale Synapse Adventure 15 & 16 Di2
    Scott Foil 18

No, we didn't do camping. Typically we booked hotels the same day few hours before. If you take hotel (not apartment), there sould not be any problems to stay with bicycle. Usualy they have garage or backyard where you can leave your bike.

Does anyone have any recommendations for the must-do rides from Siena? Heading over there for 10 days next month.

Will be with Mrs B so can't do anything too long - rides of 35-50 miles would be perfect. If anyone has any GPX/Strava links to share that would be great.

I'd really like to sort a ride with a vineyard visit/wine tasting en route if possible.
