On the train into town, meeting with the boss, the chief exec and a few others this morning but I'm not in the crosshairs on this one. Meeting some shady characters for a beer after work.

Damp and foggy ride in this morning, made it difficult to see the chunks of road that are missing.

Put my thermals on which was just about right for 0 degrees but might be a bit warm later.

    Morning dynamiteurs

    Brr cold. Will it snow?

Heap big wood pile delivery to stack today for my sins.

Shorty's parents 'evening*' later where I get to go on my own and meet her very easy on the eye teacher again. Honestly, lock us in a room together until we stink.

I suppose I should shower and shave after the wood stacking or else turn up like captain caveman.

    *3.15pm ?

Checked my WhatsApp after ‘accidentally’ muting the conversation. So much seano abuse, how dare you!

Collecting car after work and few family duties so not looking likely today, 65/35 against at the moment. Not impossible. If the missus winds me up when I get home I could be straight out the door headed for drinks.

With the exception of the scottish fellow, you're all southern softies.

Anyway, much to do and need to pack this evening so no Zwift or swimming. Some relativly good news from Physio last night, at 12 weeks post knee op (which is in two weeks) I can start to run. Albeit very gently with imtermittant walking and only on flat surfaces.

I do need some new running trainers though to help with some support and lessen the impact.

Hounds walked, working a bit, then a run, bit more work and then wait for the current wife to get back from visiting the dementia team for her mum 😢 and then point the car south

    Afternoon folks,

Reasonably pleasant wobble in this morning, nearly 4 minutes faster than yesterday due to the lack of wind. By which I mean weather, there was wind after last night's curry, that probably accounted for 2 of those minutes then.

I'm also out for drinks later, what a coincidence. I'm leaving the office early as they're with a supplier and a tax advisor. Bike's staying at work and I'll be braving a train, might get the bus to Twickenham rather than risk Feltham station.

    Onwards and upwards...

That's quite a garage though the Ferrari 365GT(?) behind glass is an anathema. They should be driven.

Stacked wood and it snowed fine stuff fit to bust. Finished the job and now the sun is out like a lovely spring day.

365GTC I think, it is regularly driven, one of my colleagues often sees him dropping the kids to school in it on a sunny day. The garage is fully functional.

    Afternoon

72 very cold miles ridden with the Gerries. Hole dug for Smarties last rest place not the easiest thing to do having been out on the bike but I needed to do it for the old lad.

Now waiting for Mrs W to get home so she can say her goodbyes. Might need a drink later.

Sat on a train trying not to let on that I understand every word the Italian girl opposite me is saying. She's chatting to a friend asking what she said to each of the two guys she's playing off against each other. It's not very interesting, but quite amusing. Mostly what did you tell him, why did you say that, would be funnier if I could hear both sides.

Last comment was " you're joking, what did he say?" Useless without knowing what she said and what the reply was.

Oh, she's mortified and wants to die. She dreamt about him and she was pregnant by him. Oh how I wish I had some headphones.

Just say something in Italian as you or they get off the train and see the look on their face 😇

I did similar in Paris after watching these 2 very rude 'Merican tourists at a Café I was at. They were clicking their fingers "waiter, waiter... " etc etc. I spoke to him in my best French which to most people, would be recognised straight away that I was definitely not French. I said to the waiter in French using the formal 'vous' that it was hot today, could I please have a serviette, some cold water with ice and a cafe au lait. The waiter brought me a cold, wet flannel in a small dish, a dry flannel, my water and a coffee.

As they were standing up to leave one of them said quietly to the other behind a hand "You see [pointing to me] that's the sort of service you get if you're local". As they left I said in a posh English accent "You will have a good holiday won't you?".

    They left in a hurry.

I thought I'd just say 'excuse me' in Italian as I got up, unfortunately she got up just before I did as it pulled up to my stop.
