Search function - limitations
There does not appear to be an advanced element to the Search function, like other forums.
Am I missing something in not being able to find it?

You have to do a search first, then the results page has some additional filters you can add

I saw that but the filters absolutely basic - Title, Author and date range. No option to filter by a sub-forum......

Clearly not. A rubbish search function negates a huge number of the benefits of a forum which has lots of history. It makes it more of a live environment trying to compete, but fail, with the likes of Facebook.
Facebook is rubbish at holding and making available old useful information but is good at providing a forum for discussion on current themes.
As I have said elsewhere the BikeRadar forum is dead.

Put this in Google
site:https://forum.bikeradar.com/ search function
And it will return any results on the forum about search function. Edit as you see fit.

That defeats the purpose of having a forum search function.
Searching for "https://forum.bikeradar.com/ ultegra" for example, returns about 1300 results, not all of which are Bike Radar. You cannot narrow that down by searching for "https://forum.bikeradar.com/categories/second-hand-road-bike-parts-tools-and-clothing ultegra" as that returns "Page Not Found".
However if the forum had the usual forum search function then the results can be much more finely tuned.
This is the only forum I know of which has gone backwards with an upgrade.

You're missing "site:" in front of the URL.
Anyway yes I'm not suggesting the forum is great, just giving you some options.

That doesn't help
searching "site:https://forum.bikeradar.com/categories/second-hand-road-bike-parts-tools-and-clothing ultegra" returns over 40k results from all sub-forums on Bike Radar plus loads of other websites.
Searching "site:https://forum.bikeradar.com/ ultegra" returns 5,600 results which is better but still offers no focus as far as sub forums is concerned.
