I also used to have big speakers in the living room for "booming tunes" however when listing in the kitchen it had to deafeningly loud to hear it.

I got fed up with that and switched to Sonos, starting small and now have the full set up in the kitchen/dining/extension. Sound bar, 2 x Play 1 and a sub. Plus others in other rooms too. Much better way to listen with everything being streamed these days.

    Advocate of disc brakes.

Best thing I did was get the sub. Takes the strain off the other speakers and sound bar. I'd like to upgrade to the arc soundbar, but my room isn't big enough really.
