Cheap Winter Break With The Bike

wondering if there are any suggestions for a cheap winter sun break with the bike. I’ve done the US a few times including a week in Boston last May and 3 weeks in Florida last November but I’ve never done Europe

Fed of of snow wind and rain here and being stuck on the trainer

I can manage 6 nights at the end of January start of February. I can be flexible on dates but need to be back for a once a week commitment on the Monday

Any suggestions?

TIA

canary islands would be best bet for decent weather

btw if you book ba club europe your baggage allowance will cover the bike box and baggage, plus you get the lounges, meal, bubbly etc. on board and a blocked middle seat to give you more space, it's c. 4 hours flight

you say 'cheap', it's still worth comparing ba cost vs. low cost carrier, once all the lcc extras are added, flying ba club can be a good deal if you can travel on the right dates

Canaries. We went to Tenerife at the end of Jan in 2018. Generally the weather was ok, warm when climbing and chilly when descending.

Not sure there are many "cheap" flights and so many people are taking winter sun these days AirBnB prices don't fluctuate much.

  • We got an all inclusive hotel with Jet2 on Gran Canaria for £530 per person for 5 nights in March, and I paid another ~£85 to take my bike. This was booked some time ago though, it looks like the same trip will cost you £623 now, or £659 if you want to go next week.

Canaries are definitely a contender. Weather is generally pleasantly warm (low 20s typically) with about 12 hrs of daylight. The wind can be a bit of a pain though.

I'm going to Tenerife at Easter. Nowhere else in Europe that you can pretty much guarantee sunshine for the time there early in the year.

In Tenerife now. Not been windy thus far. Temperature pretty much perfect, mid 20s.
