Colnago C59 strip it, or sell as is?

I have a C59 which is like new. I'm going to sell it, but wonder if it's better to strip it? It has Campagnolo Super Record, Shamals, it is not slammed so is good in that regard for purchasers, 52s so is quite a commonly wanted size. All the finishing kit is top-notch.

I don't really watch the used market, but I am thinking stripping it and selling everything separately will make the most financial sense?

If you are going to fund a new bike, keeping it makes by far the most sense.

No, simply selling, I am not funding a new bike or going to replace it with anything else. I wouldn't think there's a much better bike to ride, despite 'advances' :)

  • The second hand market has dropped so selling components off, even top end, is not as lucrative.

My POV with selling high end goods is that you only need one serious buyer so I try and sell complete bikes to begin with.

I sold a c59 with campag eps a few years back via ebay and had 3 serious buyers for a complete bike, so it is feasible.

I think pricing it sensibly is key, whether bike, or frame and parts, you are unlikely to get much more than 50-60% of the original cost, even in mint condition IME.

  • Personally I would sell it as is ,it's a pretty attractive buy whole .And as above be realistic with your expectations .If its not to fund anything being able to sit on it a while is also a positive so you can hold out for the most serious buyers

Wait until Spring at least to potentially realise the best price but then I wouldn’t rely on that aspect either due to oversupply in the industry.

for the first time since the pandemic it’s the worst time to sell a bike.

Some great advice thanks. Waiting until spring makes sense and there is no rush. I also agree it will be a case of the right person appearing, especially as it's mint really. (The reason I'd mainly thought of stripping is the prices some of the groupset sell for. This is the earlier super record with the red 11 logo, five arm chainset etc, and is really hard to find nowadays let alone in fantastic condition).
