Very kindly offer, thanks V68. This is what I need 🤷♂️

Lots of nice numbers and letters but doesn’t mention size? 🤷♂️

that says it's for a thru-axle, not a qr
might be time to post a pic of the bit you haven't lost :)

Ahh. Thanks SG. Quick release you pull open? the axel I have you boot with your foot to get it turning. I thought quick release was anything that didn’t need a tool. The axel was on the floor in the hall a couple of days ago. I’ll try to get to it before the tidy fairy does.

a thru-axle needs the nut taking off and whole thing removing in order to remove the wheel, because it fits through holes in the frame/fork
a qr stays in place as the wheel just fits into slots in the frame/fork, typically much faster

The only thru axle I have is on the MTB and the thread is in the fork leg so it doesn't need a nut. I converted my Prime wheels to QR but I can't remember if they came with an axle or if that axle came with a nut. I'll take a look when I venture into the garage later.

Alternatively, chuck everything you have in the back of your car and bring it over, Balfes Bikes is close by if I don't have anything, I'm sure they will have something. You can tell the Mrs you're taking her shopping in Kingston 😁

Aah, that's dull, my 15mm won't be much use to you then. Will play with picture settings as per WS' instructions later.

looks like the nut will be an m12 x 1mm pitch (an extra-fine pitch, not standard)
if you're desperate for one 'now' and can't get it from lbs, probably ok to use* https://www.amazon.co.uk/Yudesun-Hardware-Tools-Fasteners-Machine/dp/B07YFWNDWX?th=1 until you get the correct one from canyon
* i wouldn't use a steel one long term as there's risk of galvanic corrosion with the al alloy axle body

Cheers sungod looks like i should folk out for the real deal. Shame it’s £10 postage and Canyon HQ is just up the road
Confusing though, I thought the M12 x 1 was the length of the axle, 12cm x 1 cm. Meaning I’d need a 1cm 10mm nut?

i'd read it as a 12mm axle 100mm long, with an m12 1mm pitch thread on the end, but that's a guess, never touched a thru axle in my life :)
measure the major diameter of the threaded bit of the axle, i.e. side to side across the outside edge of the thread - something that big you should be able to just eyeball it against a ruler if you haven't a gauge or calipers/micrometer
if it's m12 the thread diameter will be 12mm

Remarkably complicated business, that’ll teach me trying to faff around getting two bikes into a saloon without damaging either. Coughed up £20 to Canyon 😢

£20 for a nut! Ouch! Sorry I couldn't help. You do realise you'll probably find the old one now.

Doesn't £20 buy you a whole Canyon?

How dare you!

I'm bored of this thread thread.
