I couldn’t find the original thread.
Anyhow I got my replacement Dura Ace chainset last week. All nice and shiny.
Apparently a good LBS will ask a customer bringing their chainset in for inspection will ask “ What is the best outcome for you” if they say a new chainset. They send it back saying it clicks or makes a cracking noise some times and the customer gets it replaced.
