Zwift Festive eight days climbing challenge 2023

It’s back for the third year running… spare your limbs an 8 hour wait in A&E… ditch the Festive 500 and join us in the cosy ice-free chill of your pain cave for 8 days of virtual climbing. After two years on Rouvy, we move to the mainstream Zwift platform, which is a bit buzzier and busier. If you are not on the platform, as usual you get 14 days free of charge, before deciding whether you want to stay or cancel… plenty of time to complete the challenge.
Eight different routes, ca. 7,000mt of climbing, including the Alpe du Zwift and the Ventoux… here is the schedule…

December 24: Road to Sky (ADZ) Watopia 1050mt
December 25: Climb portal Col de Trebiac 200mt
December 26: Ven Top France 1500mt
December 27: La Reine France 1200mt
December 28: Climb portal Coll d’Ordino 511mt
December 29: Surrey Hills London 1000mt
December 30: Achterbahn Innsbruck 973mt
December 31: Climb portal Rocacorba 570mt

Hmmm. Might be more tricky now the wife has retired and is hanging around the house.
Plus, fingers crossed for decent weather and outdoor cycling.
The above may be fact, or fiction, I may be serious, I may be jesting.
I am not sure. You have no chance.

Well, I've no set goals as I am being cycling time restricted due to family commitments, and I'm not doing Zwift.

Off to a good start though. A virtual Angliru at 1243m done.

Probably won't be joining in this year sadly.

Just recovering from a nasty bug, plus I don't have Zwift. If I do get the chance to have a ride I'll probably try to get outside as I've only managed to get a couple of rides done on the new bike thus far.

    Have a good one!

A virtual Luz Ardiden done today at 1030m.

Running total of 2273m. Only 35m to go in the Strava monthly climbing challenge is a bonus.

Running total of 4911m although I appear to be the only one doing any climbing this festive period.

  • Apologies, with the forum down I didn’t quite get around organising rides.

We also had mild weather, so when it didn’t rain, I managed to ride outdoors. I have also done a bit of turbo, but couldn’t quite face long climbs this year.

A virtual Col du Galibier today at 1219m, running total of 6130m.

Hopefully something Italian tomorrow to take me over the 6459m of 2022 and this year's 7000m target.

Long way off the total of 9098m done in 2021 though 🤬.
