Morning gop fest is just starting to ease off. Hounds are hunkered down in the comfy chairs, junior is doing some online lectures, Mrs. 666 is fussing about creating noise and I'm downstairs in the cave.

    May watch the footy tonight.

  • Mowing. Several hours of it, followed by a snooze in a deck chair in the sunshine. Many of the paddock critters are probably looking around wondering WTF just happened. Plenty of evidence of inter-species skirmishes out there too... bits of dismembered rabbit, a couple of dead possum bits, and bird leftovers aplenty.

    Day off tomorrow I think.

  • Just get a Goat.

Goat, sheep, alpacas are all popular round this way... issue is we have (roughly) a kilometre and a bit of boundary line, a fair bit of which is along clifftops or steep drops, and less than half of it is actually fenced off...

    Afternoon folks,
A rather moist wobble into the office was had, but the traffic was probably worse than I expected. Was asked why I hadn't driven in given the weather, I replied that I'd probably passed a couple of hundred cars riding in. Some people really can't get their heads round that.
Usual shitshow in here, thankfully only a 4 day week for me.

He can't afford to drive after the weekend, so had to run down the toll road.

More the issue of escaping goat I'd have thought. Stevo had enough trouble keeping the hounds in and they can't climb trees.

Price of fence vs price & time expense of grass cutting.

I have roughly 500 metres of new fencing required. Given the amount of work required to actually install one, plus the materials needed, an estimate of cost is about $100 per metre. So, 50 grand.

The grass cutting gets done about 5-6 times a year, rain dependent. It costs 60 bucks in fuel per time, and a couple hundred per year maintenance cost on the mower. Time is free, I’m retired.

There are a LOT of other things I’d rather spend 50 grand on than saving a few days effort and a few hundred bucks a year in fuel costs.

The mowing is a sh!t job to do, but it’s better than the alternatives.
