Torque setting on thro axles on disc brakes

Hi,
just got my first disk brake bike. On the axles on the wheels it says torque to 12N/m but if I do this I will not be able to remove the wheel if I have an problems out on the road with the small lever they provide. How do you guys work around this?
Cheers

  • Just tighten it until it's snug. I've never ever measured the torque on a through axle.

12N/m sounds high, just nip it up with the small lever so you’ll be able to undo it with small lever!

My new bike says 10 to 11 nm but tbh it's just as tight as I can get it using the provided tool. My older disc bikes all have levers so not an issue.

Too many bikes according to Mrs O.
