transporting a guitar cycling

I've done it and I find it absolutely no problem.

But my 14yr old daughter, the only guitarist in the family, keeps telling me she cannot do it. Although she's actually good at riding her bicycle. I think they key is the guitar bag leaves the guitar both too low on her bottom, and too high above her head, which is a little uncomfortable.
So every time she goes to practice, 2-3 times/week, either she travels by bus, or I take her by car. Each of these two options causes difficulties in the family.

Do you know of any smart way to carry the guitar cycling that I can suggest her?
Thanks,
Alberto

  • Presumably a back-pack type carrier, with the neck pointing upwards.

Then you need to ride a sit-up-and beg style bike with a good rear mudguard.

Guess it depends if there is enough space in the rear triangle of her bike - the review mentions heel clearance being an issue.

Actually it seems very easy to me.

But here is a 14yr old image-aware girl in full hormonal swing. So "it works, end of" would simply not do.
It also must look not weird. Maybe neutral would do, preferably it looks cool.

This is a possible but expensive(!) solution:

    Sometimes. Maybe. Possibly.

Is it possible she just doesn't want to cycle there?

A mate of mine transports a saxaphone around the place in an old child trailer thing, can probably pick one up 2nd hand for £25.

She does ride to places, including seeing her peers, so I don't think this is the case.

I lived a year, with family, without car. Absolutely fine. Even doing the weekly shopping, everything (including young child) was in the trailer. But that's me. An old weird grumpy bold ugly man (fitter than most young gym fanatics though ;) ) who doesn't give a f*** about image. Forcing an image-aware 14yo girl to do this would be like a capital sentence. But thanks for the suggestion.

She might want to play drum and bass on the bike instead?

That's great she does enjoy cycling :-)

How about fitting a rear rack, and then finding some way to lash the guitar (Presumably it is in a case) very securely to a side of it - pointing upwards?

    EDIT: Just found these
