Sad to see the passing of a rider I remember from my youth - Winner of the 1959 tour and multiple winner of the polka dot jersey.

    A pedant would note that the polka dot jersey wasn't introduced until 1975.

    It was mentioned earlier on the Worlds coverage. I have to admit I was surprised he was still around. Before my time and I suspect that of most on here but was obviously one of the great climbers of all time.
