Where we off to? Somewhere pretty with museums and lots of old buildings with towers and knobbly bits?

assume you're in club, if it's route long enough for full meal, let us know the menu, choices have been grim the last few flights, might take a picnic

More excitement should arrive via the amazon man later, need to put summer tyres back on the non turbo bike and ditch the slime tubes, my god that set up felt heavy!
WFW followed by some WFH later and maybe some TDF highlights later if time permits.

Oooh, same destination. Plague means I won't be on a bike as I was planning to be.

    I'll photo the club menu.

If only. It's hotel and pool in Lanzarote with all of us plus my mother. Not to say it's not pretty, in a bleak volcanic way. I've seen most of the sights over the years though, and seeing as I'm out of breath on the stairs due to plague effects, I'll not ride a bike.

I thought that was Mrs Seano, or is that just when you're actually going on a plane, and not a question of passage through life's vicissitudes.

Plane anxiety + airport strikes will be interesting. Glad she’s going first.

It's a grey day looking out of the cave window. Best keep working till it gets better and if it's OK later I may go for a pedal round the lanes after work.

Update: boss just called and asked if I wanted to go see the Ashes down at the Oval next Thursday, courtesy of our insurance brokers. Beats working I guess :)

Good point, didn't think to ask, but given that it's the brokers footing the bill and my boss is the Group CFO, I'm guessing it's the former. I just know the plan is that we meet up to have brekky at London Bridge then make our way over to the Oval (and there's a sodding tube strike on...).

Coincidentally a mate of mine has got free tickets to see Kent v Surrey at the Oval on 11th August, so twice in 2 weeks.

In my last 2 jobs, I had to decline hospitality tickets to the cricket, as the value was > £150. Turned down on appeal as well, miserable sods. These policies never seems to stop people with actual power to award contracts from being entertained/bribed. Just low level scum like me. Having said that, I'm not sure there's a similar policy where I am now.

Ticket price = £110 so I reckon we're getting fed. Given the boss invited me, I figured there was no problem accepting the hospitality and in any event it was a good idea to take him up on the offer :)

Last hospitality event I attended was the Porsche Cup at Brands Hatch pre covid, free champers (the decent stuff) for the girls and a LOT of Sauvignon for us lads.
The food in the box/room was absolutely amazing as well, all sponsored by someone trying to sell my mate fluids for their paper mill.

Long walk up the stunning Crafnant valley from Trefriw. Cream crackered me.
'Bumped' into 2 road cyclists who passed me on the steep 1 in 3 section at iro 4mph as I had enough time to crack a joke or two. They must have been in something like 34 x 34. Christ it was steep and relentless.

    Evening
Out with oldies, got p!ssed on early doors but then it stayed dry for the rest of the ride. Feeling a bit weary listening to it thunder outside, might have a drink to celebrate my first ride for 9 days🤣
