Chain cleaning

Hello all
I usually use degreaser (Muc Off) for this, but I also see others who use one of those ultrasonic (??) thingies - which seems a much cleaner approach for me and the planet.

Anyone care to share their experiences?

It's just a hill. Get over it.

ultrasonic cleaners require degreaser in them to clean the chain. If anything because they are powdered they are worse for the environment.

See an ultrasonic cleaner as an alternative to putting the degreaser in a bottle and shaking, it's doing the shaking for you.

Note: I guess if you are currently degreasing on the bike then an ultrasonic cleaner allows you to properly dispose of it rather than it just washing away in to the ground. There are some 'all natural' degreased. Effetto Mariposa Allpine is what I use.

If you're doing this a lot it's probably best to wax your chains as then all you need, at most, is boiling water.

UFO Clean, really very good, however recently they've halved the amount to 500 ml from 1000 ml but kept the same price, so 100% price increase!

As mentioned - there's nothing especially 'green' about an ultrasonic bath. Just wipe it with a cloth and re-lube - and change it when it's worn out.
  • I use an ultrasonic cleaner with Screwfix no nonsense degreaser .
Does an incredible job on everything ,this result is with 0 effort
