    Hounds, 10k race that I don’t want to do as I have a longer race next week - but as it’s the race that got me into running, always feel I should do it 🙄

    Thing 2 refusing to go to football this morning. Always an issue before games and he’s a bloody good player. If he doesn’t play they can’t play the match as they are thin on the ground this week. He couldn’t care less. Tried ever form coaxing to no avail. Tried to escort him to the car and now he’s run off (not for good unfortunately) little bugger’s faster than me. His mum can sort it out.

    Lazy morning, dog walk, bike ride. Was going to MTBing tomorrow down at Bedgebury but shyte weather has meant a change of plan, so I'm going roadie round the lanes today.

    Nice walk this morning, a bit of up and down and a pre-Norman church.

    Lunched on oysters. Half a dozen for a tenner, and when I opened the box, he'd given me 8. Lovely fresh plump little things. Learning curve involved in opening them, especially given the tools at my disposal...a proper shucker is on order.

    Useful tip. Once you’ve released the hinge, wipe the shucker/knife before cutting the muscle, saves getting little bits of shell in with the oyster.

    Weird ride. Well, nice ride weird weather. Started off looking like rain showers a-comin', so longs and rainjacket. No rain. Sun appeared so getting hot and wishing I'd gone shorts. Then rinse repeat weatherwise, with a cold wind from somewhere. Is this the month of May? Really?

    Off to do some more garden fettling, catch up on il Giro laterz.

    Finished assembly of refurbished old drawers to fit under desk in office. Turns out the desk is not quite symmetrical. One side (the one I measured, obvs) they fit fine, other side, they protrude an inch or so more. Some modifications in order then. Back to the table saw tomorrow...

    Random chores all afternoon, because it was a bit chilly to be outdoors doing stuff, cool wind and not enough sunshine.

    Evening all.
    Slow start to the day following last nights wild party at the village. The day started with walking the dogs, then a bike ride the first in 10 days. Attempts at a few sprints were cut short by a coughing fit and cramp in my abs.
    A pleasant afternoon was then had at the village hall coronation picnic, the king was toasted followed by a sing along. Afterwards there was fancy dress competition for the kids who all appeared to be dressed as royalty for some reason.
    Even got a free coronation mug designed by a friend’s grandson. Apparently there was a competition for the this and he won it but he was unable to attend to collect his prize as he was playing cricket for Yorkshire.
    I feel as if I’ve been transported back to 1953 with all this.
