That really was some marker set by Remco.

I am not sure. You have no chance.

Was all about aero that TT, notice the top riders were all slight guys who can climb (apart from Ganna's stupid power)

TGH with a fast time was the first indicator, followed by Almeida. A bigger guy like struggled in the sea breeze

Hence it was perfect for Remco and his aero tuck

Lets get the is he going too well (non suspicious) out of the way? He's obv flying the way he won Liege, but can he hold that for 3 weeks?

Changed days for Tao. In the opening TT of 2020 he cruised round in 126th place handing over more than 2 minutes on the GC.

Except this is the Giro and things rarely go to plan.
The cycling gods will figure out something to keep it interesting. 🤞

It's the same as the 2019 Giro. Roglic was favourite and blitzed the opening time trial. The race was over.

In 2020, TGH lost over 2 minutes in the opening time trial. He then bonked on the stage to Etna and lost almost two more minutes to most of the favourites.

So he's going to win this Giro by at least 5 minutes then!

    Sure.

In 2005 Lance obliterated Ulrich and it was a done deal too.

In general covid races should have their own category.

I’m not optimistic about the competitiveness of this Giro but let’s see.

So you're absolutely sure Roglic is down and out?

Nothing has materially changed today. Evenepoel was the odds-on pre-race favourite and he showed why that was the case.

But there is still over 3,000 kms of racing to go.

Tbh I was already sceptical before the race when all his top domestiques went down

Roglic paced it wrong ... He lost the time on the flat .... Went up the hill more or less same speed as Remco apparently

He's either got it in the high mountains or he hasn't. Today doesn't change that. Roglic looking so slow was the big surprise.

My PTP pick so it shouldn't be too surprising. 😉

I see your point, but it's really early. All the braver the call if you end up right. I think Remco ought to win regardless of team strength due to the TT km's and them otherwise being fairly comparable on the climbs. The final week remains the wild card though.

Kind of surprised that anyone thinks a 3 week GT is over after day one.

In the last five editions of the Giro, the opening weekend TT was won three times by a GC rider. None of them ended up winning. On the other two occasions the top placed GC rider didn't end up winning either.

The opening weekend TT performances of the last five Giro winners (in reverse order) with deficit to top GC rider
