Campsite Recommendations, Loire Valley

We've postponed our planned Pennine Cycleway tour from June to late August due to the nightmare of booking rail tickets with bikes. Instead we shall take the car and tent to France with bikes. Can anyone recommend any good campsites in the west of Orleans area where there is great scope for day ride loops. We plan on a 2-week holiday based at probably 3 campsites. Pre-covid we stayed at Gouarec and Dinard campsites and had some great rides, so we are keen to emulate that in a different area of France.

Thanks,
Phil

  • We had some very nice stays at the Chateau des Marais near Chambord 10-15 years ago. We did a bit of cycling with kids on tagalongs, and I recall the area was touted as good for cycling for those who weren't into the big climbs.

There used to be a site on the island at Samur. No idea if it's still there.
  • Etang de La Breche rings a bell re saumur.

This is the one in Saumur: Flower Camping L'Île d'Offard | Camping 4 étoiles Maine-et-Loire
Bang in the middle of the river and short walk to town centre and the Chateau.
Fizzy wine capital of the Loire too,
  • From my experience, the best way to look for campings in Europe is Google Maps app. Because there is neither one application nor website for all of them.

By the way, it's our trip report from Loire Valley, maybe you'll find it useful?
