ST-7900 rh shifter borked?

Before I head to SJS and spaff £180 on a new shifter internal assembly, has anyone ever successfully fixed a worn RH 10 speed Dura Ace shifter?
It’s shifting fine from small to bigger sprockets but the ratchet fails to release a lot of the time when shifting the other way.
I’ve done the usual flushing through etc but looking inside it seems there’s play in the little assembly that holds the tooth into the ratchet. Holding this in place gently with a screwdriver helps so I guess a tiny shim or c clip could be inserted somewhere- or I hope you have a good idea!
The bike has covered about 13k miles.

Update - I cured it. It turned out that the problem was that the release lever - basically just a bent metal bar - had got slightly less bent, resulting in it slightly fouling the brake lever when pushed across. This was enough to upset the internals so it wouldn’t release.

Patience is a virtue sometimes. Have repaired some 5800 shifters that played up to save me dosh in the past and still going.
Too many bikes according to Mrs O.
