Any recommendations for general road use? Assume I need 35c or above as the rims are pretty wide compared to the road bike. My rims are TL compatible.

Might not be what you are after, but I'm running 40mm marathon supremes on mine.
I believe they make narrower sizes too.

How much clearance do you have? These are great, if they fit.

I remember some tyres I had on an early mtb that had a raised slick central section and some knobbles around the rest of the tyre. They were a bit of a disaster if you leaned over too much on a damp road.0

I’ve had Hutchinson Overide fitted for some time now. Have run initially with inner tubes and now converted to tubeless. Really pleased with them for both on and off road. Serve both purposes v wellFriend has also fitted them and is pleased too.

I run 38mm and can still do decent speeds on them.
Also available in smaller and larger widths.

I've got these on my gravel bike, happy with them. Fine for off-road in dry weather and fast rolling on tarmac
