I think it's more accurate to say he bought some great companies. What - if anything - has he started from scratch?

He didn't. He just bought and sold them.
Ditto.

At the risk of doing Focuszing out if a job, according to Wikipedia he founded or co-founded a few companies:

Yeabut - Wiki says he's a businessman which is wrong. Wiki should say he's a business man and International cunt.
So I take that with a huge pinch of salt.

Not sure Wiki does judgmental like that.
Are you disputing the facts in the link though?
"I spent most of my money on birds, booze and fast cars: the rest of it I just squandered." [George Best]0 -
No but you missed the point.
It is not clear whether Musk created anything (without acquisition).

Wikipedia is pretty clear. I'll take your failure to rebutt what was stated in the link with any facts as acceptance.
Here's another decent source - there are others:
But for your claim to have held any water you would need to explain how he came across the billions needed to buy said companies without having created something of value in the first place.

Who cares if hes made companies or just money? The guy's evil.

Did he not get the billions from his dads Emerald mine.🤔

In some people's minds accumulating money is all that counts.
The above may be fact, or fiction, I may be serious, I may be jesting.
I am not sure. You have no chance.Veronese68 wrote:PB is the most sensible person on here.0 -
Which parts of the Wiki and Forbes links above stating that he founded or co-founded certain companies do you disagree with and why?

That's not the point here though. Pinno has incorrectly claimed he didn't set up any companies, only bought them. I've shown him evidence that he's wrong.

To be honest I couldn’t be arsed to read them. I didn’t want to bore my self to death. 💀

Go suck his dxck. Though you will get orange shitgibbon dye there.

It seems you come to these hard facts and stand by them - the trade deal with the US being just a recent example, and you re-iterate the point. The world is not 2 dimensional (although, i'll forgive you because you've made a career our of the bottom line and it's either red or black). 'Creating wealth' is creating wealth but it isn't creating software or electric cars or inventing something. He's bought and sold in the tech/IT/software industry.
On that same page: Self-Made Score 8 Philanthropy Score 1. Says it all really. The bloke is a cunt no matter what he 'created'.
From that wiki page:
Musk's political activities and views have made him a polarizing figure. He has been criticized for making unscientific and misleading statements, including COVID-19 misinformation and promoting conspiracy theories. His acquisition of Twitter (now X) was controversial due to a subsequent increase in hate speech and the spread of misinformation on the service. He has engaged in political activities in several countries, including as a vocal and financial supporter of Trump. Musk was the largest donor in the 2024 U.S. presidential election and is a supporter of global far-right figures, causes, and political parties.
If you want to continue to split hairs, the only company he 'set up' (I did not use that term), seems to be SpaceX. He was co-founder of x, y and z. I will stand by my point that he has made the bulk of his fortune through acquisition.

OK, maybe go join a few others in the 'can't have a rational debate because I'm blinded by hate club' then. I'm no fan of Musk but that doesn't mean this thread has to be a pure b1tch fest.

I would guess people who are already haters and can't have a rational debate?

Nice try to move the goalposts. You were claiming above that he hadn't set up any companies and only bought & sold them: are you still standing by that?

Unlike Bezos who actually founded and built up Amazon with his wife and his own money. He deserves more credit than shithead Musk!
Sometimes. Maybe. Possibly.

Unfortunately for everyone, Musk has taken a road where a balanced debate on him really boils down to the following. Is he, on the one hand a giant douche, or on the other hand, a turd sandwich.
We probably should have realized this when he was calling the cave diver saving childrens lives "pedo guy”.

That "we" is doing similar work as the "we" in Andrew Neil's late realisation that Trump is a pile of dangerous authoritarian poo, not just someone who harmlessly winds up the libs with his bons mots.

Is the view point that if he built his own companies, that would make it fine that he's giving nazi salutes and destroying the USA government and the western alliance? And is horrificlly corrupt. And is an utter twat.

That is something he truly excels at, credit where its due.

Yep, Don't give a damn whether I am right or wrong about that. I care more about the fact he is acting unconstitutionally (and therefore illegally), deconstructing federal institutions that were impeding his megalomania and is a fascist. He has no respect for the law or the people within those institutions.
So if people hate him, it can be hate based on fact rather than prejudice. It's fine to have hated Hitler. No one is going to say 'ooh you naughty haters'.
If this house of Trump collapses, Musk could be on the end of innumerable court proceedings against him.
That'll really will be popcorn time.
Instead of getting embroiled in this petty tennis match, perhaps we should be debating Project 2025 and Musk's apparent role in wrecking the state according to the 'Presidential Transitional Project' cooked up by the right wing elements of the GOP and enabled by Trump.
The ninth iteration of the Heritage Foundation's Mandate for Leadership series, Project 2025 is based on a controversial interpretation of the unitary executive theory that states that the entire executive branch is under the complete control of the president.[6][7] Proponents of Project 25 say it will dismantle a government bureaucracy they say is unaccountable and mostly liberal.[8] Critics have called it an authoritarian, Christian nationalist plan[9][10][11] that will steer the U.S. toward autocracy.[12] Legal experts say it would undermine the rule of law,[13] separation of powers,[5] separation of church and state,[12] and civil liberties.

He's on the "too early to tell" -> "spilt milk" trajectory.

Meh, post 2018 he still (or "his" companies) were still doing plenty of interesting things.

Care to comment @Stevo_666 on those points I raised or are you going to argue that the points I made have no validity?
If however, you want to endorse or 'big up' his global support of far-right figures, be my guest.
Far right = fascist in most people's books.
