Oldest "His'n'Hers" sporting feats

Mrs W&G and I recently had a most agreeable week on two wheels in Provence, and one of our outings involved a side-by-side ascent of the Ventoux from Bedoin. I'd be lying if I said it was easy, and as we soothed our aching limbs in the hot tub post-ride, we had to reflect on the fact that our joint age of 106 (I'm 54 and Mrs W&G has had as many 21st birthdays as is necessary to make up this alarming total) was not doing us any favours. But I'm a very positive type and "spun" the situation to be that there can't be many couples with a combined age the same as ours who have bagged a joint Ventoux or equivalent.

Whilst the comment was said in jest (and an attempt to curry favour with The Boss) it's probably true. Our previous "PB" was the Joux Plane with a combined age of 96, with an honourable mention for when I rode with Mrs W&G in her gold medal Marmotte outing when we were mere stripplings of 87 in combination.

And I thought we were old when we first competed in the mixed doubles at MTB orienteering when we found ourselves in the "Over 60 in aggregate" class!

Are there any other joint senior exploits to report?

    Never knew Bruce Springsteen was a cyclist. ;)

    I've done a few half marathons with the other half 20 plus years ago but we'd have only been 60ish years between us - I doubt she'd be up for reliving the experience now although I have entered one coming up this December myself - it seemed a good idea at the time, not so much now.

    Have never been able to get her on a bike even when I said we could get a tandem.

    Took me a while to work that one out, not being a Bruce Springsteen fan!

    The Boss is The Boss. Springsteen is just a gifted musician!

    It's the "20 plus years ago" thing that is the killer. That long ago I still considered myself to be improving!
