GRX600 attaching rear wheel

I have a gravel bike with 2x11 GRX600 groupset.
Over the last few days I've had the bike in the boot and had to take off and put on both wheels.
Getting the rear wheel on has been a bit of a nightmare. The RD spring is quite stiff/strong and has a tendency to push sideways against the cassette making alignment with the axle seats really difficult.
All my road bikes are easy compared to this. Simply pull back the RD cage and drop the wheel into the dropouts.
Am I missing something with GRX600 and fixed axles?

I too have a bike with a 2 X 11 GRX groupset, but have not yet had to tackle wheel removal/refitting (And am new to thru axles), though this makes me think I should practice at home.
*Just checked and it looks like I have an 800 RD, but I have had mentioned to me the rear clutch system, which I have been told has to be de-activated to aid removal and refitting - it's just a lever on the 800, could it be the same on the 600?Felt F70 05 (Turbo)

The 600 also has the clutch but throwing it over didn't seem to help.
I'll have a play today when cleaning and putting the bike together.1 -
Ah bugger, hopefully nothing too awkward then.navrig2 said:The 600 also has the clutch but throwing it over didn't seem to help.

Mine has mudguards too, which may complicate things further for me.
Old school way always used to be to shift to the smallest cog on the cassette, is it the same for thru axle bikes?
Could have sworn I heard someone suggest to leave it in the middle of the block, but I may have imagined it.Felt F70 05 (Turbo)

I have GRX 600 (1x) on my CX bike
As long as the clutch is off on the rear mech, it's no harder than any other bike to remove the wheel from.
I always put it into the smallest sprocket before removing a wheel too1
