Colnago C60 build with Di2

Morning forum people, it

Its been a while, but I finally have the cash to start building my C60 with DA 9070 di2. So the parts I've sourced are either nos or mint condition used. If anyone has a similar build it would be good to see your bike. I am going into this totally blind, but I guess that I am going to need a 4 port junction box B inside the frame as opposed to junction box A under the stem?

Is it just the case of putting the junction box in the downtube ?

Many TIA

Andy

You need both junction box A and B. Although A could be in your handlebars or even the frame if you have a cut out rather than under the stem

Thanks for the heads up ;) I like the sound of locating it in the handlebars B)

The schematic on page 111 in the attached manual (it's for Ultegra, but the relevant parts are the same as for DA) shows all the parts you will need including the handlebar version of Junction A, except SW-R9150 - the sprinter switches - unless you want to include them in your build. The Y-splitter cable can be replaced with just regular wires, but then you can't install the sprint switches. You will need a compatible handlebar with a hole somewhere near the end where Junction A is installed to guide the wires from the shifter to the inside of the handlebar. If you have an alu handlebar this can be drilled, for a carbon fibre one you will need to buy a dedicated one.
One downside of the handlebar fitted Junction A is that you now have 2 wires running along the dropped portion of the bar which you will be able to feel when you are grabbing the handlebar in that place. It can still be felt even with a thick bar tape. The junction is sold including a dummy wire to be installed on the other side of the handlebar, so you have a similar sensation in both hands.
In theory, this issue could be worked around by drilling a hole close to the shifter, but that is risky as it would then be located in a point with a much higher stress, so best to be avoided.

Are the bars suitabke fir internal routing ?Put your Bluetooth in the bars too if you're fitting it if they are
Only tip would be get all the wires boxes covered with foam tubing avoid any rattle etc .
And if you're not using the Y cable make sure the joining cable is in the same port in the shifters ,I always use the top ones and the cable to the 4 way in the middle
  • I have a C60 with DA9070 di2 built up in 2015 by SIgma sports. I can send any pictures you want. Battery is in the seat post and junction box under the stem (using k-edge mount). My frame was the electronic specific version.
