Temperature is the decider before the calendar for me.
I've seen frosty mornings in June, and 16C in December.

I am not sure. You have no chance.

Good night with a pal who stayed over last night, pub was bouncing with young farmers 😳

Lots of work snizzle meetings and then another gentle run with a pal later

I can only find my thick winter gloves. I have a thin full-fingered set somewhere, but I can't find them. More concerted effort required.
  • Back after an enjoyable weekend (including some work) in the Big Smoke where most of our free time revolved around eating and drinking. Bleedin 'ell it's expensive in that there London.
Went for a quick run to wake the legs up last night and maybe a short spin on the bike later.
Went into the garden this morning to be greeted with frozen water on the tables, the weather is turning...

You've probably vacuum packed it down to a 1cm³.

Or Mrs Beans has put them somewhere very safe. Which happens to most of my stuff if I leave it out for more than 30 seconds.

  • Summer seems to have come to an end with a bang this year. Seems not very long ago I was out all day in just ss top and shorts. Then a couple of rides with added baselayer and ls jersey, but now I'm ferreting about in the winter gear drawer looking for tights and jackets, hats, buffs and gloves.

Not sure I'm mentally ready for it all yet...

Got old more likely. I was in thermal shorts, knee warmers, arm warmers, baselayer, perfetto light short sleeve. I was freezing for 1st 5-10 mins, warming through to "just right" by the time I arrived at work.

Morning all. Definitely chilly this morning along with a bit of mist by us. WFW whilst trying to order new battery tools for young oxo for college and beyond. Not cheap that's for sure. Running later then quick loop on the bike. Warmed up a bit outside luckily. Definitely autumnal gear time.
Too many bikes according to Mrs O.

Short bibs and jersey here, made the baselayer mistake the other day.
Gloves needed though due to their inability to cope with anything.

I hate housework! Brother arriving for a couple of days to assist with fettling of Stuff, so thought I'd better tidy up a bit, make up bedding, hide the empties etc. jings it's boring.

Sun is still out, heading outside soon to regain some sanity.

Yeah this ^. Keys - 'Where's the car key... where's the garage key... have you hung it up...?"
Phone goes missing: it's on charge 'cos 'it needed it'.
    'Where's your wallet?'... ad infinitum.

Anyhoo, good ride was had in the autumnal sunshine. Now on coffee No. 2.

Still in a horizontal position after a fair bit of pain last night, but going to see the back consultant this evening. Hopefully things will move along at a decent pace from here as I'm getting sick of this being injured business.

Edit: also our Ukrainian house guest is turning up shortly. Mrs. 666 is going to be busy.

I read all about your garage door shenanigans and i'm afraid to say I had a giggle when you said it took all day.
Imagine dropping the back end off a Porsche 944 which took a little over 2 weeks including 4.5 hours extracting just 2 eccentric bolts.

    Afternoon folks,
Another day in the orifice, busy as always. Lots of cake left from yesterday to be eaten, thankfully all in sealed containers so still fresh and lovely.
Definitely on the cold side out there this morning. Being a big jessie I was in knee warmers, long sleeve Aldi special and gloves. Managed to resist the hat and buff for now, although with all my hair hat is only for extreme cold.
Deer in the park were very frisky, big stags bellowing and snorting at each other, somewhere in the distance thankfully. It was pretty with the low sun, I just couldn't see a damned thing if I turned to look behind me.
I enjoyed the garage door shenanigans, at least it's not just me. Fixed the door for the new (to us) oven last night.
Good luck with the quack Stevo, if you were a horse they'd have shot you long ago.

Documenting the whole fiasco was mainly for therapy :)

I remember spending 3 nights in an unheated garage in November replacing the clutch on a FWD Escort with only very basic tools. Brrr! Porsche 944 definitely beyond me...

    Doing the 4 Yorkshiremen?
I succumbed to hypothermia getting a Mini going again after a 3 day spell of sub zero weather. It was still sub zero but silly me thought a T-shirt would do as it was sunny. 🤣

  • OK, I think T-shirt and hypothermia trumps my chilly garage.

Think my Dad would win the prize for most protracted mechanical. He acquired an old scooter from his brother when he was maybe mid forties. Said he was going to get it running again and use it to get to / from work. Part dismantled it then presumably his inner Yorkshireman balked at the cost of the necessary parts. He continued to commute by pushbike till he retired. The moribund Vespa was still in the shed when we cleared the house after his death at nearly 92.
