Brand/Model/Size and Tire Widths (From My Personal Collection)
Measured uninstalled, flattened, and side to side. (I know, this is not the same as mounted but it does allow some comparison independent of internal rim width and may be used as a guide when switching tire brands/makes.)
Continental Gator Skin 23C: 58 mm.
Michelin HI-LITE 23C: 61 mm.
Bontrager R2 25C: 69 mm.
Heng Shin CST 28C: 61 mm.
Bontrager R2 28C: 67 mm.
Specialized Armadillo 28C: 73 mm.
Note: Some of these tires have been around for awhile.
Also Note: The 28C R2's are slightly, just barely, larger than the 25C R2's when mounted on rims with an internal width of 19.5 mm. So there is also some variation in bead circumference. OTOH, the Armadillo 28C's are much larger than either of the R2 sizes when compared after mounting.
