Pairing More Than One Phone to Garmin 820?

Hi. I'm just separating out my new mobile from the works mobile I've had for years (iPhone 7), yes it really is that old and the battery is rubbish, and no, they won't update it anytime soon. So I've got myself a shiny Samsung S22.

So, as I commute to work on the bike I'll most likely be using the work iPhone on those days. At weekends I'll be turning it off and using the Samsung on rides. I can't see a way of pairing both to the 820 or am I missing something here?

(the ball ache of separating out my life from work phone/email to something else is a real hassle!!!)

Sometimes. Maybe. Possibly.

Don't you just download Garmin Connect on to each phone and then pair to the GPS device through that? That way the device will connect to whichever phone it sees through Bluetooth/Connect. Might be awkward if you leave BT on permanently on both, not sure about that.

Nah, doesn't seem possible. Tried and tried until I got frustrated and it wouldn't pair with either so a factory reset was required. Guess I'll just use the Samsung. Pain having to carry two phones on the days I only need one.

Do you need to have the phone paired all the time.

Why do you need a phone paired to your Garmin?
