Seen a few tweets calling this 'BS', but I can't see how. No way a team would allow infected riders/staff to continue to be around the rest of the team

Isn't that what AG2R did at the start? "Yeah, he's tested positive for Covid but it isn't Covid Covid"
Given how that has played out I can certainly see other teams following suit

Wasn't it if test positive on the rapid antigen then 2nd PCR test, then if viral load low = not contagious = stay in the race?

They said this on TCP yesterday. G Martin was contagious so was removed, Bouchard was symptomatic so he was too. Jungels didn't have a high viral load so he stayed in
I can't imagine wanting to ride with a broken collar bone or stomach bug but every year riders do. If the decision is out of the hands of the race organisation you can pretty much guarantee the teams would leave them in as long as possible.

Riding with a broken collarbone or a dodgy tummy is unlikely to lead to long term health problems, though. Riding with covid might
It'd be interesting to know what precautions teams are taking. Having the team on a bus with other staff, communal meals, sharing bedrooms etc seems fairly risky and presumably teams aren't just carrying on as normal. If you really want to avoid covid you pretty much can by avoiding extended indoor contact and careful hand hygiene.
Looking to the future you'd think the way forward is to treat covid as a normal illness and leave the decision in the hands of the team. The problem might be the more they go back to normal the more they are vulnerable to an outbreak taking out most of the riders. It doesn't really matter if they allowed to carry on racing if they physically can't.
The strange case of Rafa Majka has made the R5 Sports news. Geraint said Ineos pulled over rather than sit on his wheel, and that Jumbo did the same. Also no UAE riders would ride on his wheel either!

He also said it with a cheeky smile and a twinkle in his eye.
We're in danger of confusing passion with incompetence

Talk of shortening some of the stages. Going to be difficult with these Alpine stages as the longest one is only 150Km.

Ridiculous format.
