Southport to Skegness road bike route

Would anyone know if there is a tried and trusted road route for a Southport to Skegness coast to coast bike ride? I have searched online and found nothing on RidewithGPS or MapmyRide.
I would probably go through Manchester, Sheffield then Lincoln, but any alternatives would be okay. Thanks

    I would probably aim for Market Rasen and from there, take in some of the Lincolnshire Wolds.

    Get the kettle on, and spend a few hours with RWGPS. I’m planning a multi day trip and used the software to plan the route. Use your intended route as a blueprint though, otherwise you’ll get sucked into following that red line and not enjoy the ride.
