Possibility of the Tour not doing it's usual finish up the Champs-Elysées due to the ASO believing it impossible to hold the finale just days before the Olympic Opening ceremony. Looking at a Nice finish instead.

Wonder if they'd go for having a TT as the final stage?

About time they moved it and did something different? Or stuff the Olympics the TdF is far more important?

Hopefully a TT or a hilly stage and not a crit lapping round Nice.
The above may be fact, or fiction, I may be serious, I may be jesting.
I am not sure. You have no chance.

The race is likely to start in Florence too.

    Think it's just 'lympics innit.

Fair enough really. Must say that a finish in Brittany would have been tempting for me, but I guess it came down to the glittering...euros

Sounds great. I can imagine a start in Florence being pretty special and I’d have no problems with a non-Champs Finish once in a while.

So all in all, I’m sold. Just need to decide whether I’m going to the start or the finish.

It's nice that Italy and Spain are getting a few grand tour stages over the next couple of years. Spread the cycling word to some new places.

On that basis, here starts the campaign for a Grand Depart in Saudi Arabia.

Would not be surprised in the slightest. UAE?

Westwood and Poulter would be straight down the bike shop then

They should finish in the old Parc des Princes stadium (might have to lay down a track for them)

They should pretend they are just playing a few rounds of golf while complete a multi billion pound arms deal and the media will stop caring

Nsh - just claim they were on their way to ride their bicycles and were ambushed by a golf course and they'll get away with everything

They're going to have to put some good route building work to make Cesenatico to Bologna and Modena to Piacenza interesting. Or hope the wind blows more than it did on the Giro stage that went through there this year. The stage where something was about to happen all day, then didn't.

Should finish in Roubaix, after about 60km of cobbles.
Near enough Paris that they used to ride there in a day...
