Hi guys.
I've bought a 16year old GT MTB for a project. Looks pretty standard with many original components. But the frame which looks aluminium (it is aluminium) but also has no paint colour. Has this weird corrosion all over the place. Some look like worm casts. I've tried sanding with fine paper but that just goes right down to the actual aluminium, exposing it.
Is there any way to get rid of this corrosion layer without sanding the whole frame down to bare aluminium?
Thanks
Jas.

its called filiform and its corrosion that goes under the paint, so no.
don't sand - pointless waste of time as you have to take so much off: take to local sprayer/powdercoater and get them to bead blast it off then you can either spray or have it powder coated any clour you want..The camera down the willy isn't anything like as bad as it sounds.
