WTB Nano Tyres - IMPOSSIBLE TO REMOVE, help!

I have a set of WTB Nanos on my Orbea Terra but have now discovered they are quite impossible to remove! No amount of brute force or skill will be move the bead and several people have attempted it. I have several questions:
  1. Is there are a way to remove it without cutting it off?
  2. If so, is it then worth considering getting a new set of tyres anyway because I can't live with this nonsence?
  3. What would be a good set of gravel tyres that can handle mud and slop well?
I now have to bathe my thumbs in ice because they are red raw!

Try bringing the wheels inside and leave next to a radiator which should help soften the rubber a tiny bit. Good luck

A couple of suggestions but you may have tried them already. Wheel flat on a hard surface... wear shoes with a reasonably raised, hard heel and press with the heel as near to the rim.
Alternatively.. tyre in a vice which is solidly mounted to a bench ....tighten vice as close to the rim as is possible without damaging rim.
Hopefully that may break the bead.

If it does you may need some serious tyre levers to get it off. Try Parktools metal ones. Big and heavy but they work.
