Canti brake.

I have an old hack CX bike, with rear canti mounts. Currently running a mini v-brake, which is fine, but clogs with mud, leaves etc very easily.
Would a cantilever work as well? What's recommended?

It's just a hill. Get over it.

Pull ratio will be fine with canti's and clearance should be better. Braking may not be as good but as it's on the rear this shouldn't be much of a problem.
MTB went from canti's to proper V brakes for improved braking, but they would need more cable pull from different levers. Mini Vs were a half way house to try and get V brake performance from short pull levers. I never got round to fitting them as I would have had to cut down my mudguard for clearance, then the bike they were destined for was replaced.0 -
I've used Pauls Minimotos. They are much better than cantis/V brakes/mini Vs. No problem with pull when using drop bars. Expensive though, but they work.0

But they are mini V's, it even says so on their web page. https://www.paulcomp.com/shop/components/brakes/linear-pull-brakes/minimoto/0
