Returning cyclist now getting numb member/manhood/front bum

Hi, my bike has been sat unused for several years. I used to do 4-5 hour rides no prob on this bike but now I’m getting pins and needles in my penis after just 20 mins (I put it in a turbo to try to get started again). I’ve put on a lot of weight so maybe that is part of it? What should I do?

I don’t really want to have to buy a new saddle as I know this one can be ok based on experience. Advice needed. Desperate to get back on bike!

Tilt the saddle nose down a degree at a time until comfort is achieved.
The above may be fact, or fiction, I may be serious, I may be jesting.
I am not sure. You have no chance.

The weight won't be helping. You're also likely putting more weight on your perineum for longer if you're on the turbo as you tend to stay in the same position, being on the road you tend to naturally move around a lot more. Try to stand up every 5 minutes for 30 seconds or so.

My saddle can’t be tilted unfortunately. It’s on rails that attach to a post.

I’ll try to remember to stand regularly and see if that help.

It would be an unusual seat post that doesn't allow for angle adjustment.

Oh boy do I feel silly. Had a quick Google based on your comment and of course it’s adjustable. I’ve tipped it slightly nose down and will give that a go.

Do you happen to know what the negative effect of it being too much nose down is? I’ll keep an eye out for it.

Nose down = more weight carried on your hands, leading to possible hand/wrist problems

You might try sitting a little further back on the saddle to see if that helps relieve the pressure on your perineum

Tis good you’ve dug the bike out and are having a go. Keep going it’ll be worth it

    Sliding off the saddle.

Like what's been said. In and out of saddle every few minutes should help. I ride regularly-ish and had numbness so changed to a SMP Glider saddle with a big cut-out found it a lot better on my bits. Try second hand as people buy them and don't get on with them so sell them on cheap-ish..

Didn't want to bring up an old thread but also wanted to let the folks that replied that they helped. No longer get a numb front bum. It might be because I am wearing normal running shorts as well as getting out of the seat regularly. My old bib shorts were definitely WAY too tight.
