Problem with Shimano Sora 8 speed shifter...

I was out on the bike and my rear gear cable snapped just where it meets the frame...
Anyway, back home, I took off the cable but the end with the nipple was trapped in the lever mechanism.
In the end I had to remove the lever from the shifter, and got the old cable out without a problem.
My problem is this: I am having a lot of difficulty re-assembling the shifter.
Specifically, there is a spring behind the brake lever blade, and I cannot figure out how to locate this when reassembling the lever.
I found a video on youtube which is exactly the same model being taken apart and reassembled, but he doesn't cover this bit.

It's a Shimano Sora ST-R3300 8s right hand shifter.
Any advice on how to assemble this correctly ?
I'm a pretty decent bike mechanic and can do most jobs, but this is driving me nuts.
I'm now thinking that I may have to find a second hand replacement, because I'm really missing my regular rides.

Somebody has offered to sell you a second hand one in response to the same request on Cycle Chat and gave you tip on how to get busted nipple out without striping it apart.0

Yes I know.
But at this stage, I'd rather fix it if I can, hence my original post.
Unfortunately I'd already taken the lever off, so the tip regarding getting the trapped nipple out is academic now.0 -

As far as I can see from your video one end of the spring (the end with the dog-leg) locates in a hole in the side of the lever mechanism (as indicated) and after you've inserted the pivot pin the other end (the straight) locates behind the lip on the plastic body part.
Looks like that anyway
