10 speed Shimano 105 12-25

hi, just got a turbo trainer and need a 105 cassette but the one i have fitted 105 12-25 10 speed is discontinued and i cant find anywhere.

are there any alternatives available?

SRAM/Miche/Ambrosio etc will all work fine if you find the ratio you want.

Alts try any other cassette in the Shimano range - eg Ultegra, etc.

hi MattFalle, so would this fit? cant find any 105 or ultegra in stock or decent shipping times

it has the same cog spacing as my 105 cassette
12,13,14,15,16,17,19,21,23,25

or is it better to order a ultegra for the bike and put the 105 on the turbo?

lastly do i need a new chain with the new cassette even if using the old 105 cassette on either the bike or turbo!

Hi

Yup - SRAM are a direct fit for Shimano and of equal quality across the board, so will fit and work perfect.

Caveat - as always with these things you may need to turn the barrel adjust 1/2 turn one way or another to get perfect shifting but no way at all does it require a full set up.

i'd throw a new chain on with the new cassette - again, no need for a Shimano chain, a KMC is cheaper and better, SRAM chains are just as good.

Old chain with old cassette, new chain new cassette so all meshes and works together.

As an aside, theres no real difference apart from some minir weigh which is negligible between Ultegra and 105 so in future just rock with whatever has the ratios or best price.
