Running 1x10, with a Shimano zee FR short cage rear mech, 11-36 cassette.
I have an old 36t chainring but the chain is too short to stretch to the big cog (chain can't be any shorter as the mech is near limit (i.e. chain would run slack).
Was just wandering when they state max 36t cassette,.what size chainring is that assumed on? Would like to go 34T, but I think the chain might be too tight on the 36t cog. 32t seems more reasonable.

Buy a new chain and fit whatever chainring you want. The short cage mech limits the range across the cassette in a 1x system. It doesnt effect the size of chain ring as long as the chain is long enough.0
