Avoid Vulpine Rain Shorts

I bought a pair of Vulpine Rain shorts for £120. After 1 month's use they developed a hole in seat area of the shorts. They refused to repair them as they deemed the repair was caused by abrasion. From their email:

After inspection, we have deemed that this issues occurred as a result of abrasion damage, rather than a fault with the components, materials or construction of the product.

In light of the above, I am afraid we are unable to offer you a refund or replacement.

If sitting on a bicycle saddle is likely to cause abrasion the I am guilty. However, surely cycling shorts to be hard wearing especially on the contact points?

Absolutely appalled with the customer service of Vulpine. If your happy with their products fair play, otherwise if you are thinking of buying them, avoid.

Chris

    ... and the saddle.
The above may be fact, or fiction, I may be serious, I may be jesting.
I am not sure. You have no chance.

They make you turn round and head for home at the first drop of rain.

That's what the hole in the back of them is for. Early warning.

Great first post by him though - chapeau. Or should we say "holey shorts"?

Cotton shorts and cycling. What could go wrong?
Oh. Yup. I'd agree with the headline.

Is that a Brooks cambium? I remember reading they could be abrasive on certain fabrics.

As you can see that broken rivet cover has left a rough edge in the spot where the shorts have worn through. I agree with the shop.

I think that's harsh on the OP. It is clearly a grippy saddle but come on, that product is just pish isn't it?

Vulpine should do a credit note or something like that.

Do they do wet weather ones though? In blue?

Blue shorts. They would probably look better wet anyway.
However poster complains that makers will not replace shorts that they say damage is not due to a faulty product.
Then shows a saddle with a damaged rivet on the side where the hole is.
There’s a smell about this not just because there is a hole to let the f@rts out.

That is not a broken rivet, it is a marking. It is a "C" with a 13 or 15 inside it.

Are they even proper rivets on those saddles or just for show?

    They are rivets.
Whether they are structural or decoration is up for debate since glue could be used.
