Replacing rear internal derailleur cable - Giant Revolt Advance One (GRX)

I'm planning to use some JAGWIRE SLICK LUBE LINER to put over the existing old cable when removing so I have a pull through for the new cable. One question i have - is the cable completely bare inside the frame or could/should I leave the jagwire on inside the frame?

  • Most bikes I've worked on its inside the frame too.

I did this recently on a Felt and Cannondale frame, both using the Slick Lube Liner. The problem I found was trying to cut the lube liner to length when you have the new gear cable in place. Just do it carefully with a sharp knife and try to avoid scratching the coating on the cable. I also discovered that on the rear cable stop on the chain stay on the 'dale it was too narrow for both the lube liner and the cable so I had to cut the liner a bit shorter and work it back behind the stop so the outer would sit snugly against it.

    Sometimes. Maybe. Possibly.

Don't some people use a strong magnet?
