Prime Primavera carbon bars w/SRAM shifters

Recently bought the above bars - older 2019 model. I'm finding that SRAM shifters won't fit because the mounting section of the bars is oval shaped and the collar won't slide on to it fully, only a quarter of the way up. Shimano shifters fit fine apparently. Many folks have said the same online but no real solution. The new bars have a slightly different design and work ok.
Could someone tell me if the collar of a Shimano shifter would fit onto my SRAM? Seems they were designed for Shimano in mind.
