Where is everyone?

I'll ask, but I think I'd've heard of it by now if they were doing it. I was hoping it was some sort of government/council scheme, but now I think about it, how would you prove you actually had ridden in, rather than driven or taken the bus? Or stayed at home…pblakeney said:
Speak to your employer, or permit yourself this payment if self employed.oblongomaculatus said:
You can? How? I usually get to work by bus, but occasionally ride there and back. I'd do it more often if it wasn't a 50 mile round trip (plus cycling for the job; I'm a courier) If I can get £10 each time I do ride in, I'm interested. That's more than the return bus fare! It will all be based on your contract terms and whether or not you have a permanent work/office location. I'm classed as site based (construction) so can recover costs to my temporary place of work; site/office/client etc. The company I work for offers the full HMRC 20p mileage rate for bike travel which is something that not all companies do perhaps should to try and encourage more people to do it.oblongomaculatus said:

The key being 'temporary'.
You can't claim for a commute to a permanent place of work.0 -
Audax has traditionally been the preserve of the older rider, but from my observations at recent audaxes a fair proportion are younger riders which in my book is anyone less than 40 years old.oxoman said:Audax and touring seems to be made up of predominantly older cyclists.

Don’t be so hard on yourself.briantrumpet said:webboo said:So overall there are more people riding bikes now than before the pandemic.
Just what point were you making.
Seriously, don't ask. It's a waste of pixels.0 -
The rate of increase has come to a halt, and how you’ve reached the conclusion that there are still more people riding bikes that before the pandemic, given what I posted, is, beyond me. It’s saying that numbers have reverted to pre pandemic levels.webboo said:So overall there are more people riding bikes now than before the pandemic.

So how do you work out that. The article you linked to says midweek riding has now reverted to its previous level pre pandemic. However weekend riding has maintained its increase from pre pandemic levels. So that would amount to an increase.Ncovidius said:

As usual you appear to read something that’s not there. You need to take off that tin foil hat occasionally.1 -

I'm currently up north, btw, and there are plenty of cyclists. They're all enamoured by these plastic bikes that require non-round stem spacers, but they're cyclists none-the-less.Ben

We're still plagued hordes of clubbies who think they are pro around these parts all riding in huge bunches like bell ends not smiling at anyone or even talking to each other whilst wearing, for some unknown reason, matching clothes..
