Brake Rotor Replace

Noticed some horrible noises from my front brake on my commute home yesterday. Shimano Ice-Tech 160 & 140mm rotors. I measured the rotor thickness and they are both down to below 1.4mm. Shimano recommend 1.5 as min thickness. How safe do you think they are to continue riding until I can get new ones? Looking for rseasonably priced stock and they are few and far between.

The bike is only 3 years old and I've been using sintered pads. Do you think they are too harsh? I live in a very hilly area.

Sometimes. Maybe. Possibly.

Managed to source a pair from Tweeks Cycles. Everywhere out of stock for Shimano KS04 pads so back to Gorilla Brakes for some more sintered pads. I think they are a little harsh and caused the wear in the first instance, so hope to replace when I can get some OEM pads.

I wouldn't bother with sintered pads for a commuter. Fit resin pads and they will be quieter and less harsh on the rotors.

Hmm.. I had resin pads on a previous bike and they were not that great on the one mile long hill on the way home that ranges from 11%-8% all the way. Serious fade at the bottom. They were sh!te Hayes brakes though.

Old rotors worn down to 1.38mm. Limit was 1.5mm.

New ones are fitted and nice and shiny B)
