Hounds walked and as my mate wants to do todays run earlier, they have 10 mins rest before going out again.

Prep fast bike ready for meeting an old mate tomorrow, then over to parents to show eldest rug rat his first car 😳 and borrow my old chaps pinno style car

Out with MIL for her birthday dinner than drop her off and out with friends in the old home town, should be good

Is there anyway I can turn my still broken gas meter to my advantage in the current climate?

Off for popcorn and James Bond this afternoon.

If they find out, will some friendly eastern European boys come to visit?

Bloody wet here. Supposed to dry up later and maybe i'll get to squeeze a pedal in.
Fitted crud catchers to the C40. I did. Carefully.

Are we now officially in the post Hoppy era?

    Ciao

Bicycle tinkering tinkered - Campag is just so much nicer made than Shimano, everything from the barrel adjust screws to the B screws to the shifters to the whole lot. Just so much nicer - why people put up with Shimano plastic tat and still rave about it I just don't know.

Anyhow, sunny but cold here, about to walk Hound with crook TDV then Zwift, maybe quick weights sesh, then Paris Roubaix from last weekend, some more tinkering...... and vino.

Friday night drinks = Saturday morning head. What happens when you open that attractive bottle of malt that you got as a pressie. Will let the fog lift before venturing out. Win win.

Turns out antivaxer relative is also a test refusenik. Kids are in a schools hotbed of covid, I refuse the vaccine, but no I won't allow any lateral flow tests to reduce the risk to others I invite to visit the house. Selfish self centred or what?

If its over £39 in value they'll probably be getting in touch with you to pay the import VAT. That might explain the wait...

Heres one for you - rear mech shifts up and down cassette perfect but cage rubs on 28 and 27 but not 29 tooth....

adjust B screw makes no difference.

    perfect everywhere else....

    waddya say?

    Check hanger alignment.
Check you haven't mixed up the upper and lower jockey wheel - upper has (needs) play, lower doesn't.
B screw - set clearance too big to start with, adjust towards cassette.
Is the B screw actually moving the mech? Or is it threaded?

is it one of the rear mech designs that has a rotating bit on the mounting bolt? if so, and you get it the wrong side of the tab on the hanger, the b screw has nothing to push on

alignment all cool, worked perfect on the shytegea 9 speed i took off and replaced with Chorus 10 which now does this weird rubbing.

jockey wheels all cool - double checked that!

B screw is rotating the height adjyster thing in the mech - have had lunch and will give another go now.

    Afternoon folks,
Traditional slow start was enjoyed, EPO sent me into the loft to fetch winter clothes. Should be warmer for a few days now SG. About to head over to Wombledon to see the old dear and check on friend's daughter with baby. Hopefully she's more settled now we've got her away from the abusive boyfriend.

This is why Bracketeers are the best.

    Problem solved.

    Took chain off

    Took mech off

Swore at it and told The Imps that I would find them and I'd get the thwacker out

    Put it all back together

    Works perfect

No fricking idea at all what/why/how

But grazie again to all - v much appreciated

Now for coffee, protein shake and slumber before Il Lombardia and weights.

New Bond was brill. Finished playing James Bond with the boy, I let him have the Walther ppk and demoted myself to 009. The things we do for our kids. Currently supping a vodka martini, shaken, not stirred.

Any ideas why 50 tooth 1x chucks off the chain when its in the 29?

    inboard?

chainline might be too far out, the wider the angle the more likely the chain will come off, angle increases with shorter chainstays

    tbh not enough info

did it ever work with a 29? are the crankset+chainring designed for x1? or are you improvising with x2 parts?

with x2 the fd cage helps prevent the chain coming off, with no cage it's free to drop, worse case you could fit an x1 chain catcher to prevent it dropping
