Strava 'Ghost' Segments

Does anyone else get these?

Got a few strava live segments set up on my bolt, and in the main they work well.

But I also get these 'Ghost' segments, where I'm nowhere near a segment, my bolt beeps, I look down at the bolt, it says something like 'segment started' for a split second, before returning back to the main screen.

There are a couple of points on a regular route where it will happen every time, but also get the odd random 'ghost'.

It's a very minor annoyance on the scale of things, just wondered what causes them?

Maybe the GPS signal gets degraded for a couple of seconds and it thinks you are in a different location, at the start of a segment?

The GPS signal can be flakey. If there are too many segments too close together, you run the risk of getting a segment appear even though you’re not actually on that segment. It’s a particular problem in parks, and if the segment is about 10 feet long. It’s the old “I’ll do anything to get on T.V.” Mentality.

Cheers this makes sense, one pops up at the entrance of a country park, which seems to have a few segments starting and ending nearby.

'Care' perhaps isn't the right word maybe, but I definitely find it useful.

Given up caring about the leader boards though :-)
