Trek Fuel EX 8 2009 worth keeping?

I recently got myself a 2016 Trek Fuel EX 9.8 29er. I still have my old EX 8 from 2009 in great condition and wondering if its worth keeping. They seem to fetch around £800 on eBay which really surprised me for a bike that old, with phrases like "iconic bike" in the description. Is there something special about it?! I mean yes I always thought it was a great bike.. and have thought about keeping it to mess about on, but.. well.. too many bikes ;-)

    They sell for what they sell for. Ebay is always full of stupid prices.
    You cant ride two bikes and its not iconic, its just another Trek fuel. sell it.

    Unless you need the money to fund something else, keep it. It will always do as a reserve bike for when the main bike is at the menders or awaiting spares etc. You may also want to give it to a relative, maybe a child of yours, or grandchild. If they are too young or not the right size, where will they be in a few years?

    I regret selling my Whyte T130 C RS just because I no longer needed it. Two years later it would have served as an excellent bike for my grandson. In the meantime, I could have been using it to mooch about the village or as a spare bike.
